Learning Disability Induction Award
The LDQ Induction Award replaces the former LDAF Induction and Foundation Units
All new starters in learning disability services should be completing the LDQ Induction Award
There are still four units to complete but these are much smaller units that the previous LDAF I & F units
All learners must be registered on the award and their learning assessed, marked and monitored by either an Awarding Body or an Approved Training Provider.
Skills for Care are working with a number of awarding bodies to offer the Learning Disability Qualification Induction Awards.
THE UNITS FOR THE LDQ INDUCTION AWARDS AT LEVELS TWO AND THREE ARE AVAILABLE BELOW
LDQ L2 LDQ Level 2 Award
LDQ L3 LDQ Level 3 Award
THESE UNITS ARE FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY, THEY ARE NOT A TRAINING COURSE IN THEMSELVES
THOSE OFFERING THE AWARD SHOULD CONTACT AWARDING BODIES TO CHECK ON THE EXACT FORMAT EACH IS USING, AND TO HAVE THEIR LEARNING PROGRAMMES ACCREDITED
The units cover the learning outcomes within Skills for Care’s Common Induction Standards, focused within the context of supporting people who have learning disabilities.
The units also cover many knowledge requirements for the NVQ core units. A mapping for each NVQ Core unit and the LDQ Induction Award can be downloaded below.
LDQ Induction Award Level 3 - NVQ Core Units mapping
LDQ Induction Award Level 2 - NVQ Core Units mapping
The LDQ Induction Awards are offered both at level 2 and level 3. The content is broadly the same at each level but with some adjustment to match different roles and depths of knowledge.
These units have a notional learning time of 20 hours per unit. (This is learning time not teaching time, therefore time learning/applying in the workplace will count.)
1 - 2 days teaching per unit is a realistic figure.
Learners registered on existing LDAF awards will have a period of time in which to complete their awards.
