1. Do staff working with people using Direct Payments/Indiviudal Budgets or in Supported Living schemes need to complete the LDQ Induction award?
All new social care staff should be undertaking the LDQ Induction Award. There may be no formal requirements in terms of Inspection of services but it is certainly considered good practice. The award allows new starters to consider their role in the context of national guidance, regulation and direction looking at the key principles which they should be using on a daily basis
2. Do I have to complete the LDQ Induction Award if I already have an NVQ in Health and Social Care?
This will depend on your employer -
New starters in Learning Disability Services need to complete the LDQ Induction Award. The term ‘new starter’ needs to be considered by your manager. If you gained your NVQ in Older Persons services for example then LDQ may well be relevant. The Award also offers the opportunity to undertake refresher style training and increase knowledge
3. Do I need to register my Learning Disability staff on this award?
Any staff undertaking the award need to be registered with one of the awarding bodies
This may be done via one of the approved training providers either locally or nationally
The LDQ Induction Award can only be completed if learners are registered and their work is assessed and verified, it can be undertaken ‘in-house’ but most be subject to inspection from an awarding body
4. Where can I get funding for this training?
Your local Skills for Care Office will be able to assist with funding for Induction training. This is only available to employers/training providers not individuals directly
5. I’ve lost my Certificate from the LDAF training I did previously
If you need a duplicate copy of your certificate you need to contact either the awarding body or training provider you undertook the LDAF units with. If you can supply them with your registration number this will make their lives a lot easier!
6. Who are my local Approved Training Center?
Some training providers offer training across the country.

7. Where can I get the mapping from LDQ to NVQ?
The mapping is available for LDQ Level Two and Level Three to the NVQ Core Units can be downloaded here
The LDQ Induction Award fits directly into the Skills for Care Common Induction Standards and needs no mapping
8. Can I do the LDQ Induction Award Online/e-learning?
Some of the national training providers offer an e-learning package, do contact them directly.
